3 Ways to Increase Your Discernment In These End Times

If you are like me then you are constantly trying to apply the Holy Spirit gift of the discerning of spirits when you are taking in information. And there is SO much information available to us today. Most of it, if you are on social media, is being thrown in your face every single day in quippy video bites. It can be difficult to tell if what you are hearing from the influencers, the newscasters, or even pastors, is true. 

So I asked the Holy Spirit today, “How can we increase our discernment as the end draws near? How can we know right from wrong, what is of your spirit and what is not, as deception increases?” 

These are the three things He told me, and I want to share them with you:  

1. Ask! 

1. “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom.”-Proverbs 4:7a 
2. “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”-James 1:5

1. Know the Scriptures better than you know the news. 

1. Without proper knowledge and understanding of the Word of God, you will not be able to discern if what you are hearing aligns with the heart of God. Then you will easily be swayed any which way by slick talkers. 
2. “My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge.”-Hosea 4:6

1. You MUST know My voice. 

1. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”-Psalm 10:27
2. Spend more time hearing from Me (God), than you do hearing from them (the world). 

I believe that the discerning of spirits is one of the most needed gifts in the body of Christ today. We desperately need to be able to divide between the Holy Spirit, demonic spirits, and a human spirit, so as to not be led astray or lead others astray. But praise God, it is available to us!
